The prize comes with a purse of 38,000 euros, apart from which the winner’s artistic development is supported by an exhibition and a catalogue, enabling her to reach out to a wider audience with her work.
The Hannah Höch Förderpreis has been awarded since 2011 at the same time as the Hannah Höch Prize. Both are named after the grande dame of Dada in Berlin, who today is one of the best-known women artists of the modernist era. In her own lifetime, however, Höch often struggled for recognition. In memory of her birthday on 1 November, both prizes are awarded during that month at different venues.
