magma

The Berlin based architectural practice magma architecture works on the boundary between architecture, design and communication. Founded in 2003 by Martin Ostermann and Lena Kleinheinz the collaboration focuses on creative and experimental approaches to architectural and related commissions. Amongst their repertoire are exhibitions and event-centre

Inside the spectacular spatial sculpture made of a compound fabric – polyamide and elastan – the office delivers a cross-section of proposed and realised projects. Works included are the current revitalisation of the former GDR Radio Centre (Berlin, Nalepastrasse, 2007), a competition entry for a bridge over the Landwehrkanal river in Berlin (2006) and the exhibition Trial & Error in London (2003). The installation encourages visitors to bend under the sculpture and stretch up between the opening in its skin from where they can be immersed by the models, drawings and photographs by magma architecture. This in turn orchestrates the formal language of the practice, one that is fluid, immersive and dynamic.
