It is hard to exaggerate Lovis Corinth’s contribution to modernism. In his own lifetime the virtuosic painter (1858–1925) was one of the most eminent and influential figures in the Berlin art world. Around 80 outstanding works by Corinth, as well as some 30 works by his pupils and contemporaries, offer an insight into his influential body of work. The exhibition also focuses on lesser-known aspects: his painting school, where he taught mainly women, and his work for the Berlin theatre. More information
