Book Launch, Screening and Discussion
“The Non-Statistical Body” presents a comprehensive overview of Chan Sook Choi's work for the first time. To mark the publication of the Catalogue Raisonné, curator Zoe Chun will be joined in conversation by Jesi Khadivi, Yung Bin Kwak and Siegfried Zielinski, all of whom have contributed essays to the volume. Together, they will explore Choi’s media-based practice, examining the intersections of artistic production, exhibition-making, and academic research.
The event will also feature a screening of the video work “qbit to adam”, among other selected works.

Chan Sook Choi’s (b. Seoul; lives and works in Seoul and Berlin) performances, photographs, installations, and videos are the fruits of extensive research into subjects such as migration, memory, displacement, and the inversion of human and nonhuman relationships. The final form of her works is ultimately determined by the intuitive trajectories of her investigations, which are also reflected by the manner in which she installs them in exhibition spaces. Choi avoids fixed formats and pursues a site-specific and context-sensitive approach that aims to create an immersive experience for the viewers.
