Grafic Art
in the Spotlight

From the collection Berlinische Galerie

The third big exhibition since the opening of the new museum building in 2004 is focusing on graphic art. Visitors will have the chance to see a selection of the museum’s graphic art collection that comprises around 15,000 works on paper.

The exhibition provides a rare opportunity to see the masterworks of the collection, which is dating from the beginning of the 20th century to the present, because they can usually not be shown for conservation reasons. Arranged in a chronological order, to a large extent, the works on paper are accompanied by painting, sculpture, and photography.

The list of the artists contains famous names such as Ludwig Meidner, Oskar Kokoschka, George Grosz, Raoul Hausmann, El Lissitzky, Käthe Kollwitz, Otto Dix, Jeanne Mammen, Werner Heldt, Hans Uhlmann, Fred Tiehler, Hermann Glöckner, Walter Stöhrer as well as contemporary artists like Hanns Schimansky, Paco Knöller, Nanne Meyer, Eva-Maria Schön, Michael Kalmbach, Caro Suerkemper and Theresa Lükenwerk.
