Sascha Weidner, Mehr Licht II, 2009
© Sascha Weidner Estate and Sprengel Museum Hannover, 2025Ten years after the death of photographer Sascha Weidner (1974–2015), this panel discussion explores the development and practice of managing his artistic estate. Central to the conversation is the question of how an artistic legacy can be responsibly taken on, structured, and preserved over time.
Drawing on personal experience and practical insights, the panelists will reflect on the challenges, decisions, and lessons learned over the past decade. Supplemented by curatorial and institutional perspectives, the discussion offers in-depth knowledge on the organizational, legal, and museological aspects of estate work – providing hands-on orientation for heirs, estate managers, and professionals in the cultural field.
With: Inka Schube (Curator of Photography, Sprengel Museum Hannover), Dr Dorothea Schöne (Director, Kunsthaus Dahlem, Berlin) and Ole Truderung (Sascha Weidner Estate). The event will be introduced by Dr Thomas Köhler (Director, Berlinische Galerie).
Sascha Weidner’s photographic work – situated between subjective documentation and poetic staging – is represented in the collection of the Berlinische Galerie with a substantial group of works.
