Big Children's Opening

At the Big Children's Opening, you can playfully discover works by artists Lovis Corinth, Josef Kaiser and Jeewi Lee.
Stefanie Heckmann, curator of the exhibition “Lovis Corinth. Then Came Berlin!,” will welcome you. There are stations throughout the museum where you can participate, craft, and invent.

Come join us! We look forward to seeing you, your family, and your friends!
Admission from 2:30 p.m.

Café Dix is open and offers snacks and drinks.

Let’s put on a show!

Based on Lovis Corinth’s designs for the theatre, you’ll create costumes using paper, netting, threads, yarn, and other materials. Then the grand staircase at the Berlinische Galerie will become your runway!

A theatre production needs all kinds of things to bring it to life. Of course, there are the actors, but there are also stage sets. Lovis Corinth designed these, and we want to do the same. Invent shows  and draw the scenery and whatever else you’d like to bring to the stage.

City Life, City Shadows

Here, you’ll create an imaginary three-dimensional cityscape inspired by the exhibition on Josef Kaiser. Using cardboard, paper, scissors, coloured pencils, and other recycled materials, you’ll make houses, rooms, and secret nooks (alternativ, einfacher sprachlich?: corners). Through playing with light and shadow, you’ll explore. What can you see? What remains hidden? And what happens inside the spaces of our city?

Crumbling Landscape

Experiment with kinetic sand—you’ll press, layer, and break it apart, letting it trickle, crumble, or roll. Like Jeewi Lee in her exhibition “Residual Memories,” you’ll discover traces and shapes that emerge, change, and then disappear again. Using pencils and pastel colours, you’ll capture the shapes and outlines of the sand on paper. Afterwards you can add your pictures into a large landscape that will grow during the children’s opening.

Come and create! We look forward to seeing you!
