RAT-A-TAT-TAT: The Sound Experiment

Children can celebrate their birthday with friends and family at the Atelier Bunter Jakob. The set fee for a group with up to 10 participants is 225 euros. A three-hour birthday party at the Berlinische Galerie can be scheduled for a Saturday or Sunday. Siblings and parents are welcome to join in. The event can also be run in English.

You will build creative instruments for your birthday from everyday materials like saucepan lids, bowls, tins and cutlery. You will be inspired by Dada art at the Berlinische Galerie. After visiting the exhibition, you will design crazy instruments that jingle and rattle and clatter – in true Dada spirit. The main thing is to enjoy making noises and discovering sounds.

You can use the instruments you make to improvise, dance or paint – whatever you feel like. You will finish by building a little orchestra to play a birthday serenade.
