Architecture Tour with Ticket B to IBA '87 sites in Kreuzberg

So 8.8.21, 11 – 13:30 Uhr

Anything goes! Housing in Kreuzberg IBA ’87, in englischer Sprache

How do we want to live? What does the city of today look like and how can we shape the future? The International Building Exhibition not only discussed these questions in theory, but also put them into practice – with new housing concepts that promised social compatibility and innovative living concepts. Not demolition, but redevelopment and social housing construction were the motto. Instead of large apartment blocks in the outskirts, architects and urban planners wanted to make the city center attractive again as a place to live.
Pictorial and expressive architecture is the focus of this guided tour, as part of „Anything Goes? Berlin Architecture in the 1980s“. You will get to know buildings with faces, learn which concepts were explored and what makes the most beautiful maisonettes. In addition to the Ritterstraße North area, the tour also takes you to the unique residential courtyards of Hinrich and Inken Baller on Fraenkelufer.
