Artist Talk & Book Signing: Mariechen Danz

Photo: The portrait shows the artist Mariechen Danz behind one of her large, silver sculptures. It resembles a torso and is made of aluminium with small geometric shapes stamped into it. Mariechen Danz is almost completely concealed by the sculpture, with only her head, one hand and her feet protruding.

GASAG Art Prize 2024

The award winner Mariechen Danz talks to Guido Faßbender, curator of the exhibition "Mariechen Danz. edge out", about her work, which combines scientific systems for describing the world with subjective, alternative and magical ways of thinking. The starting point of her artistic research is the human body, which she uses to model new approaches to the communication and representation of information and knowledge. A joint tour of the exhibition provides insights into her visual language of cartography, geology, technology, anatomy and astronomy, which she has developed over the years and continues to reconfigure.

A catalogue will be published by Kerber Verlag to accompany the exhibition at the beginning of February. This will be available in the museum shop on the day of the event at a price of 24,80 euros. Following the talk, the artist will sign copies on site.

Admission from 6 pm with the opportunity to visit the exhibition "edge out" in advance.
